The London-bound Hatchs FAQs - (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. What is your background?
Chris grew up in the Southeast US in a Christian home (my father, Jim, was a pastor). Josephine grew up in Nairobi, Kenya where she became a Christian in high school. After coming to the states in 1988, we met at Covenant College and married in 1993. Our daughter, Rahel Grace, is seven years old and our son, James Kaleb Gitonga, is three.

2. What have you been doing the last few years?
We have been in Chattanooga, TN living and working in Glenwood, a low-income African-American community. Chris was the founding director of “Hope for Chattanooga” a community development ministry growing out of New City Fellowship, Chattanooga. In addition to raising our two children, Josephine ran a floral business out of our home.

3. What are you doing now?
We are living in St. Louis, MO and preparing to go to London, England with World Harvest mission.

4. Why London?
Folks from around the world, especially from former British colonies, are migrating to London where God has opened doors to the gospel that would not be open in their home countries. We will be working primarily with a local church targeting Indians and Pakistanis assisting in community development and mercy ministries.

5. Are you going with a mission agency?
We have been evaluated and approved by World Harvest Mission out of Philadelphia. We have been personally impacted by their ministry through the Sonship course and have really appreciated their grace-filled approach to missions with a Kingdom focus.

6. Where will you live in London?
Although the current church and ministry is located in Southhall (a community with 200,000 Indians) the plan is for us to live in the nearby Wembly neighborhood. We hope to build relationships in this immigrant community for a future church plant.

7. When do you plan to leave?
We desire to leave as soon as possible.

8. How long will you stay?
Our plan is to be career missionaries, with occasional visits back to the States.

9. What can friends do to help?
We are in need of much prayer! We are currently building a support base of family and friends who will commit to backing us up with prayer and finances as we seek to see the Kingdom of God advance in of London. Send us your email address to receive our updates.
