Here’s the report I wrote for The Church of St. Michael’s (Church of England) on the White City Estate in regards to our Kid’s Clubs in 2013:
Continuing a tradition we started in 2012, St. Michael’s partnered with New City Church to conduct holiday bible clubs for children in the church and community, many of whom do not have activities planned over the school breaks. Affectionally known as “The White City Kids Club” each day contained a mix of games, snacks, bible stories, crafts and ending with a wild, fun activity conducted by one of the leaders.
We started 2013 with a one day club on January 4th, held three more days over the Easter holidays and then had eight days of Kids Club after school was finished in July and August. In addition we held a “School’s Out” party for children from Ark Swift Primary Academy on July 24th. The children enjoyed the bouncy castle, games, table tennis plus we gave away over 100 ice lollies and water bottles.
This past October we hosted a “Fancy Dress Festival” for children as a safe alternative to Halloween. About 50 children enjoyed dressing up and playing games in order to win sweets.
Our prayer is that the children would have the opportunity to hear the gospel in a fun, safe environment through Kids Club and other activities. As Jesus himself said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
