On being silly

Last Friday, New City IPC organized a kids club at St. Michael’s Church on the White City estate.  We had a great time with the 25 kids playing games, working on crafts and learning from the Bible.  After the pizza lunch we ended our time with “Crazy Chris”, a follow-up on “Crazy Edd” this past summer.

For this Crazy Chris time, we had two kids help Christoph and me with our morning routine – eating breakfast, shaving and brushing our teeth.  The only problem is that the kids had to do this without seeing what they were doing.

It got messy!  And the kids LOVED it.
Crazy Chris

I admit that I don’t normally like getting shaving cream in my ear and eye.  But there is something profoundly wonderful about the joy Crazy Chris brought to the kids.

We all need a little silliness in our lives.

Of course, if we never have serious times, we have serious problems as well.  But as the writer of Ecclesiastes tells us in chapter 4:

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to weep, and a time to laugh

When’s the last time you were silly?  Is it about time to make someone else laugh?
